I agree that Madoff and the rest of the Wall St. Shyster Club would not be able to survive in a post-industrial feudalistic society. They ride in balloons lifted with the hot air of the false economies they create. There is no substance behind their air of power and influence. Mere shells of men.
No, I think the real winners in that sort of situation would be the mafioso. They already live in a feudal society, they are bound by loyalty even to laying down their lives to protect the "king." They understand how to operate under the radar, how to win hearts and minds, recruiting, fundamental economies, familial and geographic sufficiency and loyalty. The best we on the outside could hope for is to eke out enough production and manufacturing in our own little corners of the world to feed and clothe ourselves and to pay the "taxes" which would be imposed on us by our organized masters.
Let's hope we find a sensible middle path between Nanny State and Fat Tonyville.
